Guest Star: B L Morticia

Welcome to the sofa the delightful B L Morticia as she talks about My Lieutenant and more...

Thank you for joining me on the sofa, BLMorticia and for agreeing to answer some questions for me.

1.                  So who is BLMorticia?

BL: BL is the wicked gal muse of Sharita Lira. I’m her oldest muse too, the one that urged her to follow her dreams and not be afraid to unleash her wicked fantasies. *licks lips*

2.                  Tell me a bit about your current WIP / latest release.

BL: Ooh, this month I am finally in the spotlight away from Michael. WOOT! I have 4 new stories, 2 in anthologies that are out or on their way. The Prince and the Penis in the Once Upon a Twisted Tale anthology from Rebel Ink Press is a short m/m, I Dream of Dalian in the Wicked Wanton Hallows Eve from Naughty Nights Press is a paranormal m/f, my first full length novella, My Lieutenant from Rebel is out Nov 3rd and Something Fresh Served Hot, from the Something New on the Menu series from Naughty Nights Press will be out later this month. It’s a collection, all m/m I’m doing with good girl muse, Rawiya. Whew, and more to come too! *grins*

As for WIPs, I’m working on a story, m/f, called Turning the Tables as well as Taming Wild Horses, an m/m/m/m western. I inherited from Michael Mandrake.

3.                  How do you work, do you pick a title first, or characters names, or how they look?

BL: Well, unlike Michael who does a character outline and all that, I just let er rip. I’m pick models for my characters, usually actual models or musicians, then write the story. Title might already be in place but sometimes it will change.

4.                  When did you know that writing was your passion?

BL: I think Sharita finally realized it last year. She’d always been writing for a while until she finally sent one story in for submission. When they started getting accepted pretty quickly, she finally got enough confidence to sub and here we are.

5.                  What was your first book and how long did it take to get it published?

BL: My first book will be out Nov 3rd, My Lieutenant. Sharita’s first book, under Michael mandrake was True Meaning of Love from XOXO publishing released Dec 2010. It took about 4 months after submission which is great.

6.                  What some don’t realize is that writing is a discipline and you have to proportion a part of your day to it – how long does it usually take you to complete a manuscript?

BL: Well this is a trick question. Since I share Sharita with two other muses, it could take only a couple of weeks, sometimes two or so months. My Lieutenant for example took like 3 months. *laughs* We changed it so many times. And then, You Don’t Ask, we finished within about3 weeks. That’s when Sharita figured out writing a hundred stories from all the muses at the same time doesn’t work. It must be done one muse at a time. Max 2 stories. Now, this method works better.

7.                  Do you outline your plots first?  Or are you like me and just go hell for leather?

BL: All muses work different. I’m like you, Rawiya is synopsis slash let er rip and Michael is more detailed. Synopsis, character outline. Organized, just like a gay man *grins j/k*

8.                  Out of your body of work – do you have a favourite character?

BL: Oh yes I do. Nathan Ellerby from My Lieutenant. He is a doll and great fun to work with. Such a smart ass, very snarky. I love all of them though. It’s like picking your fave kid but me, the muse, doesn’t have any. *wipes forehead*

9.                  If you were to offer advice to someone starting out, what would you say?

BL: Keep writing your ass off, don’t pay attention to bad reviews, and sub to anthologies. They may not pay much but they do help new authors like myself.

10.              Who are your favourite authors, in any genre?

BL: Ah, old school like Jackie Collins, Anne Rice, Zane and then now, I love Sue Brown, Tara Lain, Rick Reed, and you madam. I loved your last two books. One that isn’t out yet. *zips lip*

11.       If you hadn’t chosen writing, or rather, writing hadn’t chosen you, what do you think
You would be doing for a living?

BL:  Well me, the muse, would be traveling with the band on a bus. Sharita            might have some boring bank job er something. *grins*

11.              What do you do in your free time?  And don’t say writing!

Don’t say? Hmm, okay go to concerts, surf the net for pretty pics and er porn. *winks*

12.              What makes you laugh?

BL: A night of drinking with my buds and the puking that might occur afterwards.

13.              What irritates you most about other people?

BL: Close Minded assholes! People who can’t accept differences. We’re not all the same, this is not a cookie cutter society, deal with it. *growls*

And finally….

14.              Would you like to share with us your favourite joke?

BL: Hmm, I don’t really have one in all honesty. I’m good at snark but not at jokes. Go figure. There you go, that is a joke in itself. Thanks for having me Lisa!

And here’s a little taster of My Lieutenant

(Coming Nov 3rd)

Official Blurb: Nathan Ellerby's apartment has been ransacked by his ex who didn't like the fact Nathan dumped him. Trouncing through the debris uttering a string of obscenities, Nathan's shocked to see Lieutenant Bryant Duncan at his door claiming he's already caught the offender. Sensing an instant connection, when Nathan finds out Bryant's divorced and he's straddling the fence between being gay or bisexual, Nathan finds himself in a quandary.

Although the Lieutenant does everything in his power to prove to Nathan he's worthy, Nathan is afraid to lower his defenses which leaves both men wondering if Nathan will allow love into his life even through his doubts.

(Unedited Excerpt)

A very tall, dark, and handsome bald headed man was standing there with a pearly white smile.

“Hey, listen, I caught the guys that went through your things.” He smiled and nodded.

“Seriously?” I opened up the door slowly only to lock eyes with the most, gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on.

Fuck!

He  moistened his lips. “Hey, I’m new to the building. My name’s Bryant Duncan.” He put out his hand.

A black Irishman?

I accepted it. His hands were warm but kind of rough just the way I like them. That moment, his skin on top of mine sent heat to my groin. I took a whiff of his cologne. “Nice to meet you, Mr…”

“Call me Bryant, please,” he interrupted me. “Like I was sayin’, I saw the bastards going through your place. When they saw me, they tried to get away but, I called the cops once I got the building security to come up and help detain them.”

Holy shit, my hero…

“You didn’t have to.” I was completely impressed that he cared enough to put his life on the line.

We stood silent a minute.

“Ahem.” The cop came up behind me. “Okay sir, I need you to come down to the station and give a statement. If you could meet me downstairs.” Thiesmann adjusted his belt. “Mr. Duncan, nice work and um, Mr…”

“Ellerby, Nathan Ellerby.” I offered my hand.

The cop took my hand lightly. “Mr. Ellerby, don’t be too long okay?”

He walked back through the door and struggled to crawl under the tape. When I saw that I wanted to laugh but I had more important matters in front of me.

I gazed at him.

“I’m sorry, and you said your name was…” Bryant raised an eyebrow.

“Oh shit, erm.” I cleared my throat, noticing our hands were still locked together. “Nathan, Nathan Ellerby.”

We gripped each other’s palm tightly. “Good to meet you, Nathan.” He released my hand and my gaze then reached into his back pocket of his loose, fitting jeans.

I couldn’t help but follow his arms. They were so big, muscular. I could imagine them cradling me during the night.

“Here we go. My number just in case you need me for anything,” he grinned.

I took the piece of paper, still gawking at those lovely brown eyes. I tried to keep myself from drooling. “Man, I don’t know how to thank you.”

Bryant waved his hand, smiling. “No problem, man. I live right down the hall. I just happened to be on my way out to run some errands.”

“Yeah?” I leaned against the door frame. Suddenly, the robbery seemed less important.

“Yeah, those fools were doing it in the middle of the afternoon.”

“Interesting.” I licked my lips, looking away for a moment. I wanted to continue talking to Bryant, but Thiesmann was waiting on me. “Listen, umm, again, I don’t know how to thank you for what you’ve done. It was very brave of you.”

Bryant smiled, “Like I said, no biggie.” He put his hands together and rubbed them briskly.

This time my eyes didn’t follow. I tried to think of something else to say to keep his attention. “I, um…I need to figure out a way to repay you for this. Maybe, I could take you out to dinner or something?”

Bryant grinned, nodding. “Yeah, maybe we can have a bite to eat. If you need my statements or anything, make sure you use that card and give me a call,” he said before disappearing back down the hallway.

“Thanks so much, Bryant. I’ll be calling you to setup that dinner.”

“Cool.” He backed away. “See ya, Nathan.”

“Bye,” I said, watching his cute backside make its way down to apartment 17D. “Shii…” I mouthed to myself after I closed my door, grinning like a Cheshire cat. The man was my hero, in the span of five minutes I was in love.

Thank goodness for petty crime!

BIO: BLMorticia is the original muse of Sharita Lira. The wicked girl who is the other side of Rawiya, Sharita’s other female personality writes the stories Sharita’s other muses might not touch. Since her passions are music and sex, those have become a common thread in a lot of her stories. She’s also a big fan of vampires and hates anything lame and considered normal.

Her first published story, Cocksucker’s Complaint was featured in the Bad Girls Sweet Kiss Anthology from Xcite books and now, after deferring to the other muses, she has once again become focal point in Sharita’s quest to be a multi published author. My Lieutenant, BL’s first gay interracial tale was contracted by Rebel Ink Press and her gay romance story, Something New on the Menu was accepted by Naughty Nights Press. However, since the CEO wanted more, she revised the tale and decided to team up with good girl Rawiya on a series. Now, that story, renamed Something Fresh Served Hot, will be included in a sexy set of books from the Menu collection.

Also contracted, I Dream of Dalian in the Wicked Wanton Hallows Eve, a hetero paranormal from Naughty Nights Press and The Prince and the Penis in the Once Upon A Twisted Tale from Rebel Ink Press.

Still, her submissions to for Rebel Ink haven’t stopped. She has just completed the first book from her all gay military series, You Don’t Ask, We Don’t Tell coming in February 2012, which is a funny take on the DADT policy and in the works are 3 more books for this collection.

In the works, tentatively titled, Turning the Tables and Happiness in Slavery are both hetero bondage tales and will be submitted for publication soon as they are completed.

BLMorticia considers herself the snarky and wicked side of author Sharita Lira so expect her to tap into the taboo and unleash her fantasies on the world through her words. When not writing, she does biweekly posts at fellow author Blak Rayne’s blog, http://blakraynebooks.blogspot.com, posts with Rawiya at Erotic Diaries and a feature with fellow Rebel Cassandre Dayne called the Wicked Women Wednesdays.
