I stood and watched the way he caught and held the attention of all those around him.  Marvelled how an almost awed silence fell over the room, like a winter snow shower.  How their breath caught in their throats, hands fluttering to their chests like anxious butterflies the moment their gazes found him.  I’d seen the effect he had on people, a thousand times, but it never failed to fill me with a sense of magic and wonder.  No one knew who he was.  There was only the name on a plaque beneath the painting, “The Summer of Loving Joel”.
