WAFFLING WEDNESDAY'S GUEST: RAINE DELIGHT

Welcome to Waffling Wednesday, where I have Raine Delight on the sofa with me.  Today she's going to tell us about her first forage into M/M...a subject that is slightly close to my heart ;)

I popped my cherry….writing MM Stories

I got my cherry popped. Wait get that look off your face and mind out of the gutter. I mean I wrote my first M/M Story that totally took me by surprise since it started out as an M/F story. Somehow, it turned itself around and my hero balked at being with the heroine I picked out for him. He wanted someone else…the new man in town-NOT this barmaid who I thought was perfect for him. Call me crazy but changing it to a MM story worked…better than I even expected.

Yes, I know what you are thinking (ha never knew I was psychic did you?), how could you write a MM when you write MF stories? Easy because that was what my characters and muse told me to do.
J I am a slave to the muse and story ideas so when a story doesn’t work no matter how many times I try to pound it in a square hole when in fact it’s a round hole it needs to go in, I listen…after I bang my head against the wall and curse my characters for a few days. *laughs*

Writing my first MM story had me on pins and needles…mainly because I know so many GBLT authors and admire them that for myself, writing this one felt like I was being initiated in a club of sorts. I love reading MM stories…heck I am practically addicted to them. *grins* But writing one? Oh man, I got the shakes and the butterflies flew in my stomach like they were in the damn grand prix. So finally after much second guessing, hemming and hawing, I finally took the leap and wrote Bewitched by Destiny, the second book in my new series Destined Mates. What came out was something I never anticipated. At times, so sad, it made my beta reader cry to so hot, she jumped her husband. *laughs*

I can’t say I will write primarily MM stories now but I like switching back and forth if the story calls for it. Listening to my characters had me almost missing the magic of this one and I am glad I took that leap of faith.

I am currently getting ready to self-publish my MMF sci-fi Ménage and find that as I write more scenes with male heroes, it does get easier. Though I have to admit, I still get the butterfly grand prix each time I start writing a MM story. *grins*

So there you have it…I had my MM cherry popped and it was quite enjoyable too. J

Raine Delight loves to be pampered by her harem of men that exist solely for her pleasure. Wait…..that was in a movie she saw. Hey, she can dream. J Raine loves to fight with her muse, attack her manuscripts and find a way to silence the many voices in her head. Inspiration hits at odd times and for Raine, a blank word document page gives her many possibilities on story ideas.  Living with her two kids, a significant other who supports her every move in writing and doesn’t seem to mind she gets up at 2 am to type away on the computer. With a love for Johnny Depp, movies and 80’s hair bands, Raine finds a way to bring all her chaotic thoughts into a story that tells her readers about love and romance.
